Towards a fair European tax policy

New resources for housing intervention in favour of Roma

"As the only Roma Member of the European Parliament, I strongly object to the recent accusations against Fidesz - the Hungarian Civic Union - suggesting that members of my party have regularly expressed anti-Roma sentiments. Among the more than 140 parties of the 27 Member States represented in the EP, Fidesz was the only political formation to delegate an MEP of Roma origin. more

Lívia Járóka MEP held a press conference today on the anti-Roma remark of Commissioner-Designate Maroš Šefčovič in which he claimed that Roma were the "exploiters of the Slovakian welfare system". Járóka, the only Roma Member of the European Parliament, said that such a collective condemnation of Europe's most vulnerable minority was unacceptable. She said that Šefčovič would have the opportunity to explain the issue at his Hearing next week in Strasbourg.
